The purpose of Honduras Initiative (HI) shall be to create a sustainable partnership between Brown students and the local citizens of Intibucá, Honduras with great help and involvement of the non-profit organization, Shoulder to Shoulder. Each semester, members of Honduras Initiative will work to prepare for a three-week trip over the winter or summer break. Preparations will include fundraising, accumulating donations of books and other needed items for the children in Honduras, as well as group study of material to be taught in two week-long classes for women in the local jurisdictions of Honduras. Finally, Honduras Initiative will help to recruit undergraduate students who may want to be involved in a Health Brigade coordinated by members of the Brown Alpert Medical School.
