Mediev-l is an academic discussion list for the Middle ages. Many of the participants in mediev-l are professional historians or historians-in-training, and it is this audience that mediev-l was primarily founded to serve. However anybody interested in medieval history is very welcome to participate. For the purposes of this forum, the Middle Ages are defined as the period running roughly from 300 AD to 1500 AD, though sometimes topics may spill beyond these boundaries. Anything dealing with the history of this period is suitable for posting to this forum. Also appropriate are discussions of topics concerning the practice of medieval history (i.e., historiography, academic life, etc.), and modern reactions to or depictions of the medieval world (i.e., novels, movies, etc.).
