Dear all,

The fall semester is drawing to a close, and I wonder how you are doing
with your VHL work.  Would you please send me a detailed update as soon as
you can?  It'll help me to gauge what we need to wrap up before the first
report to NEH is due.

Additionally:  what's your availability like in January?  What about the
spring semester?  Where do you think you'll get to (1) by the end of
January, (2) the end of spring?
