a Curator of Science and Technology to be responsible for the
documentation, interpretation and conservation of its historical
collections, including artifacts, films and other recordings,
photographs and biographical materials. Responsible for active
collecting and deaccessioning policy in liaison with MIT faculty.
Handle complex research inquiries. Undertake scholarly research in area
associated with collections. Assist with fundraising, exhibitions and
public programs. Candidates will need Bachelor=EDs degree in science or
history; postgraduate degree in history of science and technology;
significant experience in research and curation; at least three to five
years experience in museums. Familiarity with contemporary collecting
and deaccessioning issues an advantage. Ability to grasp intellectual
content in the academic areas in which MIT is actively engaged
essential. Candidates must show great initiative, have excellent
interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with MIT

looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Director of Exhibitions and
Public Programs to lead the development of the Museum as an interface
between MIT and the wider community. The postholder will be responsible
for the conceptual, intellectual and artistic development of all
exhibitions, working with guest curators and outside contractors, and
for overseeing their installation and ongoing fabric. Also responsible
for developing and overseeing the Museum=EDs public programs, including
K-12, and developing audiences for programs. Supervise staff and
volunteers. Assist with fund-raising and publicity. We need someone
with a bachelor=EDs and postgraduate degree in relevant field; at least
five years experience in museum exhibit management and production plus
experience in managing an educational service in a museum. Science
background preferred. Must have considerable degree of initiative and
excellent interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to work
effectively with MIT faculty, staff and students essential. Competitive

Registrar and Collections Manager

</fontfamily><fontfamily><param>55_Univers</param>The MIT Museum seeks
applications for the position of Registrar and Collections Manager. The
Museum holds architectural, historical (photographs & archives),
holographic, maritime and science & technology collections. The
postholder is responsible for the general management of the Museum=EDs
collections and records, including collections management planning and
development of related policies and procedures. Manage collections
information systems, cataloging of collections and collections
documentation. Ensure currency of procedures and adherence to museum
standards. Co-ordinate insurance coverage. Develop and manage the
computerization of collections management and cataloguing systems.
Develop and maintain the Museum=EDs home pages. Candidates must have a
master's degree in museum studies, or related field, and at least three
years of directly relevant experience.  Must be knowledgeable about
collections management standards and possess substantial practical
experience with a range of computer systems and software. Must have
excellent interpersonal skills, be able to work in a small collections
team, be well organized, detail orientated and show initiative.
