True, but if one wanted to stick to <desc>: why isn't @type allowed in
<desc>?
(This is only tangentially related to Gioele's question, but my first
thought was to replace the <surface> in the example with another
<graphic>, and replace <note> with more <desc> elements, ideally
retaining their @type information. That wouldn't solve the problem of
indicating the relation between the images, of course.)
