Does anybody know whether there are efforts being made to create a
standard index of regularisations for person names, place names, etc.
similar to what has been done for language names (cf. ISO 639 and ISO
639-2)? Such a list would improve cross-document search capability a
lot, even if the documents had been provided by different publishers.
