Now the children are out the door and I have a couple of cups of coffee
in me, I am beginning to see the wisdom of what Stuart, Lou and Martin
were trying to tell me. Presumably the way to go about my problem is not
to see the blockquote translation as an extension of <gloss>, but to see
the inline translation as an extension of correspondence. In other
words, I should do something like this for all translated passages
whether they contain chunks or only phrases:
<q id="text1">C'est ne pas une pipe</q> <q corresp="text1">This is not a
pipe</q>
This adopts the suggestion of Lou and Martin by putting the translation
in parallel, and answers my problem by making the link explicit
(something Stuart already pointed out to me, but I didn't see).
Is this correct?
