My apologies if this is insufficiently erudite for this list:
I've looked in vain for a tag in the TEI spec for marking up a break in
narrative flow in a novel -- typically seen in print editions as extra
white space between paragraphs, sometimes as a line of asterisks
(usually when the break occurs at the end of a page). The break is used
to indicate a shift in time or place in the narrative.
This sort of thing is used extensively in more "modern" authors, such as
Virginia Woolf.
The nearest I've come to this is the <milestone> tag, but the
description of this in the Guidelines suggests this is intended for
something else.
I guess I'm looking for something like <hiatus> -- have I missed an
existing tag, or does one not exist?
How would others suggest this be indicated?
Thanks,
