I have decided to keep 2006 stats. Perhaps someone knows of a good
online cycling log book??
The EBBP was mostly clear this morning - no wind. It was really a pretty
good ride. There are patches, though - that you have to be cautious
around. There were two sets of bike tracks in front of me this morning.
One set of really wide tires! So I was not alone. Ice patches were on
the bridges (no surprise) and in areas that get no sun and/or little
runoff. It's slower than summer riding but still worth it... I just go
really slow over the icy patches so I can put my feet down if I need to
and then speed up when I hit dry ground again. The tires slide a bit
back and forth but I find it's best to just coast over these patches -
keeping as straight a line as possible. I get good traction in the snow
- as long as it's not deep. It's a learning experience, to be sure...
For those of you who haven't seen it, this site is inspiration!
www.icebike.org Living in RI is nothing compared to what these folks go
through to ride most of the year. They have a great mailing list -
fairly active but they offer a digest (one message per day) that I'm
reading in the evenings. I've learned a lot...
