Hi all,
Sorry to have missed everyone in Victoria. I was just looking at the
latest P5 documentation and see that <dateRange> has been coalesced into
<date>. I have three questions connected with this.
1. Is there a pointer to any documentation on the discussion over the
changes to content models for datable objects in P5?
2. The updated Guidelines at 6.5.4, "Dates and Times", gives the
following as an example of coding "to mark a period of time":
<p>Those five years --
<date from="1918" to="1923">1918 to 1923</date>
-- had been, he suspected, somehow very important.</p>
The P4 guidelines for <dateRange> recommend "yyyy-mm-dd"
format for @from and @to values. This makes sense to me,
as a date range is logically a span from one point through
another point. But in P5 Guidelines this decision is left to
local practice?
3. Logically when using <date>, @value conflicts with
the att.datable.attributes attributes, i.e. this
makes little sense:
<date value="1776-07-04" from="1776-07" to="1776-08"/>
but it's allowable under the schema, no? so that
again it's up to local practice to enforce constraints?
