As I was riding in this morning on the EBBP, on the stretch between
the bridge w/the 'fixed' pothole and the causeway, I came across two
deer out for their morning stroll on the path. This being in the
light of dawn, neither one of us registered on each others radars
until I was about 20-30 yards away from the pair. They both bolted
east into the bushes, but their path was cut off by fencing, so after
a few seconds of thrashing, they proceeded to race back out onto the
path right in front of me, ran up a few yards, and tried again...they
proceeded to turn east again, and were back out on the path again,
clearly upset...by this point I had slowed to a crawl and eventually
dismounted to give them some space to figure out which way they
wanted to go, and they proceeded to yo-yo off and on the path until
finally they got past the crossing with the chainlink fence, and
managed to run off around the pond, probably waking up all the swans
in the process...
It was a change of pace from the usual ride....
