Congrats Connie!
I have family living just down the street from Stanford. Great place.
I would suggest making a point to meet the legendary Jackie Phelan, and
have Tea with her. That and have fun with the different weather!

Congratulations on your new position, and on managing to snag one in a
true cycling mecca. I visited Stanford University during the 1970's and
was amazed by the sheer number of bicycles everywhere.
If you haven't already gotten them, there are state-of-the-art bicycle
maps of the area called Krebs maps. See
http://www.krebscycleproducts.com/.
There's a legendary cyclist in the region known as the Pink Lady.
There's a nice article about her at
http://www.teamalameda.com/FlashBlog/?p=14, and a photo at

.
Perhaps you'll become known as the Brown Lady.
Best wishes,
Howard

Subject: [BIKE-TO-BROWN] Moving to California!
Hi, everyone. I regret (in many ways) that I will no longer be commuting
on ice and snow - I'll be working at Stanford University Medical Center
starting in February and I have a big move ahead of me, but look forward
to commuting to work in my new job. My new boss is also an avid cyclist
(does 100 mile rides often!), and there is a group of folks at Stanford
that do a ride once in a while by taking the train to San Francisco and
riding down the west side of the SF Bay back to the Stanford Campus.
At any rate, I will miss this group VERY MUCH, and hope to stay in touch
with some of you as cycling develops here. Maybe I can send along some
ideas from that area. I am also looking forward to the January 1st ride
up Mount Hamilton, and the Tour de California (as a spectator or a
volunteer)!
My new boss has agreed to provide me with a wardrobe closet for my new
office and there are many who commute to work there.
I wonder if I will stay on the icebiker's mailing list?? ;-)
