This is a fairly common approach actually, I know a number of people who
do the same. I'm planning to talk with people at RIDOT today and will
bring up the various routes people approach the bridge and aren't
greeted by detour signs. Please let me know if you have another
approach that completely bypasses all the signs.

I posted a link on the B2B website with recommended routes, take a look
at http://tinyurl.com/3rf948. I'll probably fine tune these
recommendations as I ride them more over the upcoming days, but they are
far better than what RIDOT has posted.
