Dear all,

as most of you know, the TEI members meeting will be held in London 6 - 8 November 2008.
On the 8th at 2pm there will be a meeting of the Music SIG. It will last 90 minutes and hopefully we will be able to discuss some decisive points, plan long term work (setting a SIG agenda) and subsequently revive the discussion on the list.

As we have a small amount of time, the agenda for the meeting is meant to suggest topics to guide the conversation.
The agenda has also been published on the wiki:
http://www.tei-c.org/wiki/index.php/SIG:Music

Agenda for the SIG meeting: London 8th of November 2008.

    * 2.00 – 2.30: Open discussion (setting SIG agenda)
          o music notation as text and music notation in relation with “extra-musical” text
          o harmonization of core TEI and music. I.e. using TEI elements for text in the musical notation
          o aural common elements between different notation systems
          o musical text v layout
          o musical text / performance (the case of IEEE 1599)

    * 2.30 – 3.00: Open discussion (setting SIG agenda)
          o new encoding model or namespace recommendation?
          o MusicXML, MEI, IEEE 1599, others
          o publishing: what are the possibilities at the moment?

    * 3.00 – 3.30: Workshop/Brainstorming
          o Perhaps work together on an example
          o Defining long-term work of the group

Looking forward to seeing you in London.

Best,
Raffaele
