I agree. TEI is after all a scheme which is optimised for encoders, 
whereas RDF is very far from that.

I came across another example of this the other day in the field of 
linguistics in which encoded texts are mapped to a linguistic ontology 
called GOLD (General Ontology for Linguistic Description):
