May I just, for the record, link this with the discussion we've also had this week about senses in dictionary entries. I do think that we need to advise some best practice encodings which rely on stable structural units that should be used even when the content (and the content model) could make you think such units are superfluous. In the case of dictionaries the argument is that we do need (in a semasiological representation of lexical content) a sense element, even if there is only one and even if the sense is only qualified by a definition and nothing else. This allows one to refer univocally to it, but also, and this is the main argument to have a coherent encoding schemes across various entries or various data sources. We need to bear with these boundary values which makes us have line groups with only one line, but makes us move towards, I think, more interoperability.
