I don't ride any other pads hard or far enough to properly evaluate their comparative longevity. However, KoolStops definitely have excellent stopping performance in cold and wet conditions, as well as dry of course. Far better than stock Shimano pads and Tektro pads. For bikes that are used in all weather conditions, I wouldn't pick anything other than KoolStops. Campy calipers? Bruce will already know that Campy racing brakes had a long-time reputation as 'speed modulators' rather than 'stoppers.' As in, 'I'm trying to win, not to stop.' But man, they're pretty. And modern ones perform just fine for stopping. Tektro brakes are indeed a great value; good function, acceptable finish, dirt cheap.
