Assistant Director of Grants & Sponsored Program Administration:
JWU, now in the early stages of a comprehensive fundraising campaign, is seeking an assistant director of grants & sponsored program administration. The incumbent will collaborate with the director of grants & sponsored program administration, major gifts officers and others to prepare letters of intent, proposals and budgets aimed at securing gifts and grants from vetted prospects; work with faculty and staff to develop and submit reports to inform funders of the impact of their contributions; identify corporate, foundation and government prospects; and assess these prospects’ capacity and inclination to support university priorities.
As an employee of the university Resource Development office, located in Providence, R.I., the assistant director will undertake the aforementioned activities in collaboration with development officers, faculty members and administrators on all four of the university’s campuses (located in Providence, R.I.; North Miami, Fla.; Denver, Colo.; Charlotte, N.C.).

Summary:
Oversees and contributes to the preparation of proposals, budgets, reports and other materials related to securing grants and charitable contributions that support university and campus operations, scholarships, capital projects and other approved fundraising priorities
Essential Job Functions:
- Develops proposals, budgets and templates required to secure grants and gifts for the university
- Prepares stewardship reports to inform corporate, foundation and government funding sources of the use and importance of their gifts and to cultivate donors for future funding requests
- Participates in the universitywide identification of new funding sources
- Collaborates on strategy to maximize the potential for corporate gifts, foundation grants and government funding
- Assists in the monitoring of the portfolio of existing funding sources
- Maintains documentation required for funding proposals
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree
- Moderate amount of experience working in fundraising, proposal writing, or in other related work
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or greater in English, business, or a related field of study
- Experience with grant administration in higher education
Additional Requirements:
- Each applicant must submit a writing sample that demonstrates their ability to meet the requirements of this position
- Candidates may be required to complete a writing assignment as part of the interviewing and selection process
- Meticulous in nature and able to communicate technical information so that it is intelligible to varied audiences
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Able and willing to travel occasionally within the United States, primarily to the university's regional campuses
