I was interested when I first saw this -- I had heard of Romanal, which was
invented by Alfred MICHAUX, who was president of the first Esperanto
Congress in 1905, a good friend of Zamenhof's, and played a small role in
the development of Ido prior to Oct., 1907, but did not play any
significant role in the events that followed.
Nevertheless, it appears that, Guerard notwithstanding, the expression
"considerable importance" may be something of an exaggeration.
As far as I can tell, only three books about Romanal appeared, all
self-published by Michaux, the first under the pseudonym "A. M. Boningue".
Appearing over a period of 14 years, they total some 168 pages. (Entries
6251 and 6252 in Stojan's Bibliografio.) There is no indication that any
serial titles or material by other authors ever appeared, though Peano did
write the preface to the third volume.
Here's what Drezen ("Historio de Mondlingvo", p. 203) has to say about
Romanal. For those who like to read stuff in the original, I have not
translated it. I also don't reproduce the black-and-white sketch of
Michaux, which appears in the book; the man bears what I consider a
striking resemblance to General Ulysses S. Grant.

Certan intereson havas en si la fakto, ke en la j. 1917, dum la milito
_Michaux_ rekomendis sian projekton kiel sistemon de Esperanto, purigitan
de germanismoj kaj tial pli akcepteblan por la =FEtatoj de Entento.
La diferencoj inter la novlatinaj projektoj de la tipo de "Latino sine
flexiones" kaj sistemo "Romanal" estas unuavice en la plia internacieco de
la vortoj de Romanal, en kiu forestas la latinaj vortoj arkaikaj, ne plu
uzataj en la modernaj kulturaj lingvoj, kaj duavice -- en tio, ke Romanal
posedas certajn difinitajn gramatikajn regulojn.
En sia lasta libro _A. Michaux_ penis meti limon inter la adeptoj de "la
simpligata klasika latino", al kiu li alklasifikas la sistemojn de _Peano_,
_Basso_, _Hely_ kaj adeptoj de la "modernigita latino", al kiuj li, krom si
mem, aldonas anka=FD _De Wahl_ kaj _Meysmans_.
Kiel ekzempla teksto de Romanal povas servi la traduko de jena frazo: "La
plej bona helpa lingvo estas tiu, kiun povas facile kompreni la amerikanoj
de la nordo kaj tiuj de la sudo" -- "Li meliori lingue auxiliari est ille,
quel possan facilim comprendar li americanos del norde et illos del sude".
