I just experimented with entering a bunch of multinational characters in WP
(accessible from the main menu through Insert, Symbol, or in most set-ups
through Ctrl-W), saving the text as Unicode, and then creating a small TEI
document and inserting the file. The multinational characters came up
fine. You can also enter the multinational characters directly while
working in the SGML/XML document. Perhaps you just hadn't located the
multinational character set?
