I have had 2 infants in the past 2 months who have required resuscitation
with vascular access via an IO needle. The infants both required emergent
CT scanning and hence the issue at hand: we were transferring the infants to
the PICU via the scanner and had not placed other IV access. Both times the
radiologists requested a "real IV" in which to infuse the contrast. This
obviously created some delay in care. Does anyone have experience with IV
contrast via an IO needle? Thanks in advance.
