A question about taxonomies, and how to tell a TEI document where to find
I'm considering using <keywords> (in the header, in profileDesc/textClass)
to encode some metadata, and I'd like to provide an XML description of
appropriate metadata formats in an external taxonomy file. It would be
great if I could tell applications where that external taxonomy file was,
so that they could go get it and validate the metadata that they find in
the TEI document. I'd like to do something like this in the TEI document:
<xptr url="http://www.foo.org/taxonomies/general/general.xml" />
Of course, xptr currently accepts only TEI extended pointers, not URLs,
and there is no "url" attribute for it. I have in the past been told that
adding that attribute in the internal subset of the DTD is the way to go.
Is that right? Or am I doing something horrible here?
