I'm trying to write a set of recommended practices for encoding a bunch of
metadata about multiple source texts in one TEI document (using
Independent Headers, so we'd have multiple TEI headers, one per source
text). We'd like to include, for each source text,
* basic metadata (date written, date encoded in TEI, publication
location, etc); this is easy enough
* comments on the source text ("this is recommended reading for people
who like X genre"; "my favorite part of this story was the bit
* information about the commenter (name, email, etc); there may be
a different commenter for each source text, or, in some cases, just one
person providing comments for all texts
I'm at a loss as to how to do this, and wonder if perhaps it's something
the TEI isn't designed for (but suspect Lou would get upset if I
considered writing my own DTD for the purpose).
For the comments on the source text, I've been considering "projectDesc"
(in "encodingDesc"); this isn't exactly what that element was meant for,
but it seems like it would serve.
For the information on the commenter, maybe "respStmt" -- but I can only
put responsibility and name information in there, not contact information,
Hoping someone has brilliant insights,
