I'm just at the outset of a task of marking up a catalog that I've
recently digitized. I'd like to use TEI, but I'm not sure if I can,
because I can't seem to identify a set of tags that is appropriate to
this kind of document, which, although it is called a catalog, has more
of the format of a dictionary. For example, I'd like to use the tag
<entry> to separate the entries in this catalog, but it seems like
<entry> is a tag that is specific to lexicons. So I'm presently hung up
between the alternatives of trying to make my
own DTD for this document, or use TEI.
In any case, I figured, I would at least make an attempt, for a day or
so to work out some kind of TEI application. But, on the first
entry in the catalog, which looks like this
I received a parser error of
"attribute id not declared for element entry"
I checked on the entry element, and it lists its attributes as &global;
and when I eventually tracked down global in the entity file, "id" is already listed as one
of the attributes. So it would seem that I should not be getting this
error. Does anyone have ideas as to what is going on here?
