I'm working on a role playing game (RPG) document and, after a long
comparison I choosed to use TEI to structure this project, instead of
DocBook. As I'm new to TEI, I have some questions:
1/ I'd like to mimic the structure of the well-known GURPS RPG books (if you
don't know how it looks, I referenced a sample at the end of my post (*))
What's interesting in these books is the extensive use of the margin. It use
it to place out-of-the-flow comments, tips, history details, and so on.
These sidebars always have a title, can be pretty long and sometimes include
complex structures. In DocBook, there is the <sidebar> tag for this kind of
stuff. In TEI, I only found <note> but it's far more limited (no title, no
inside structure,...). And the <div> doesn't seem appropriate either, as
it's in-flow. What can I do? Will TEI5 help?
2/ The project I'm working on use special dice with only +, - and blank
sides. So the result of a four dice roll can look like "+ + 0 -". I'd like
to semantically markup dice roll as I want them rendered with a special
font. The <hi> tag seemed great for the rendering part but poor in the
semantic point of view. Maybe I should use the feature structures but it's
not clear to me how they work. Any other possibilities? Any help?
Thanks for your help...
