The Department of Emergency Medicine at SUNY - Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, NY is actively recruiting Board Eligible/Board Certified Pediatric Emergency Medicine faculty members to staff the Pediatric Emergency Department at University Hospital. The Pediatric Emergency Department is the only pediatric emergency department between Rochester, NY and the state of Massachusetts. It is the primary referral center for all seriously ill and critically injured children within a seventeen county area. The immediate five county area has a population of over 700,000. University Hospital is the site of the region's only PICU and Level 1 Trauma and Burn Centers. The Department of Emergency Medicine serves as the home of the Central New York Poison Control Center, the University's Center for Emergency Preparedness and is the medical control facility for all EMS activities in Central New York. The Pediatric ED is a participating site in the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN).
Plans are progressing to soon break ground for the new Central New York Children's Hospital at University Hospital. This state of the art facility will capitalize on the University's already established pediatric tertiary capabilities, research efforts and teaching activities to ensure that state of the art pediatric clinical care and research will continue to expand and flourish in Central New York.
Current pediatric emergency medicine faculty are well-referenced contributors to the field of Pediatric Emergency Medicine both within the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Emergency Physicians. Recruitment will allow completion of the move to 24 hour a day, 7 day a week coverage with Pediatric Emergency Medicine faculty. There is protected time for research and other academic activities. Excellent compensation and benefit packages are offered.
