I have a question about how people handle the very common manuscript
situation where there is a deletion plus a supralinear insertion marked by
a caret at the point of insertion; and assuming that it is important to
record precisely where the caret is placed. For example:
Is this overkill?
How should one <add place="infralinear" corresp="A1">⁁</add>
<add place="supralinear" id="A1">tag</add>
<del rend="strikethrough">mark</del> this?</p>
The caret is tied semantically to the insertion, but not always tied
physically, so I can't see a way around using the "corresp" attribute if
the relationship is to be maintained. Or is there a better way?
