I hope you received the MASTER+ DTD from Zdenek Uhlir. This DTD contains
two main parts, one is the MASTER DTD, the other part contains the
"extension" that concerns the page levels of the original book. That
means the MASTER+ enables creating the complex digital document (virtual
book). I. e. this provides the connection between page levels and images.
I. e. (now in the MASTER+ DTD):
<pgImage id="IDSP" href="SP" quality="excellent"/>
We think that this "extension" should become a part of TEI because of
its general character. (This could be used to create digital libraries.)
The best way for it - according to our opinion - would be to provide it
as an independent module. (Because this stuff is bound not only to
manuscripts but also to printed books, evt. all written material.)
If this proposal would be emboded into TEI than the Manuscriptorium
data will be (maybe with some conversions) completely TEI-like. As so as
we are planning to provide fulltexts within the Manuscriptorium
database, too, it will be very important for us that all documents' DTDs
(manuscript descriptions, page levels, fulltexts) will be parts of TEI DTD.
All the best,
Jindrich Marek and Zdenek Uhlir

I can answer all of these, though I am not an MSS person
>1. Will it be so that the MASTER DTD will be "dissolved" in the P5 TEI
yes. one of the aims of the new P5 MS chapter was to subsume Master work
> 2. What will be the main changes?
for that, you have to read the draft chater
>3. Will be here a "recommended"
>DTD for manuscript descriptions or should everyone put together its own?
you should just use the manuscript module in P5
>4. Is this http://www.tei-c.org.uk/Activities/MS/FASC-ms.pdf the draft
>for manuscript description elements in P5?
yes, it is.
>5. Could be something/all
>from MASTER+ put in the new complex DTD?
The manuscript chapter should be regarded as being very close
to a candidate release. That is not to say that work cannot continue on it,
but its late to make substantive changes to this version.
You should contact the manuscript description work group
chair (Matthew Driscoll) if there are changes you want to get into P5
