I think the linux way for installing tei-emacs is :
* make sure you have either emacs or xemacs installed -- they should be
* install the psgml (http://sourceforge.net/projects/psgml/) package
(which adds xml/tei capabilities to emacs)
You can do both either by compiling things from source and installing
manually or -- better and faster -- by using the package management
system of your linux distribution.
