We just started using it and have been happy with it. There is no question
that it is useful for only a select group of patients, and it doesn't work
all the time, but when it works it works well. We use the Nitronox system,
which is a fixed 50:50 concentration with demand flow. It is easy to use and
quick to set up. It requires patient cooperation and self-administration, so it
is not useful in younger kids. We have used it successfully (in combination
with local, when appropriate) for fracture reduction, shoulder dislocations,
I&D, and foreign body removal, among other things. Everyone here is
enthusiastic about it!
