The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Kings County Hospital and
SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York is recruiting faculty
to expand our section of nine core pediatric emergency medicine faculty.
Our division is comprised of an energetic group of PEM
physicians with a strong commitment to clinical care and education. The
faculty provides care at
Kings County Hospital, an urban teaching hospital and Level 1 trauma
center, as well as at University Hospital, the academic teaching hospital
for the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine.
The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine cares for over 30,000
pediatric patients at Kings County Hospital and 20,000 pediatric patients
at University Hospital annually. The newly constructed Pediatric Emergency
Department at Kings County Hospital includes: 20 treatment areas, a 2 bed
resuscitation bay, a separate pediatric triage area and a recently deployed
EDIS with tracking capabilities. The PEM faculty provides 24/7 attending
coverage with most shifts staffed with double coverage plus a fast track
physician. Residents from the Departments of Emergency Medicine,
Pediatrics, Family Practice and the combined IM/EM program along with
physician assistant and medical school students rotate through the
Pediatric Emergency Department.
Candidates should be PEM board certified or eligible. A competitive
compensation package and academic appointment will be offered.
Responsibilities of the faculty include direct patient care, supervision of
the residents, PA and medical students, didactic teaching, research and
participation in administrative activities.
