The recent queries for recommendations of XML editors, delivery systems,
corpora annotation tools, and XSLT books come at a good time. The TEI
SIG on Tools ( http://www.tei-c.org/Activities/SIG/Tools/ ) has been
working since the Members' Meeting in Victoria to flesh out the tools
section of the TEI Wiki:
I've been mulling over how much previously published writing on the
topic -- such as that listed at http://www.tei-c.org/Software/ -- to
incorporate into the wiki first before explicitly inviting everyone to
collaborate, to avoid people rewriting this information from scratch.
But I think it's better to build a list of tools that people actually
use today, rather than an exhaustive inventory of all tools every used.
I've just incorporated substantial recommendations from our recent
discussion into the wiki, but there's plenty more work to do. So I
invite everyone to visit the wiki and improve upon it. When creating a
new page, please use the
http://www.tei-c.org.uk/wiki/index.php/Tool_template to maintain
consistency across the inventory of tools.
Do also take a look at the rest of the wiki (
http://www.tei-c.org.uk/wiki/index.php/Main_Page ), which continues to grow.
Note that the wiki should only be edited from tei-c.org.uk, not
tei-c.org, due to server configuration anomalies.
