A new version of oXygen is available from our website
Version 8.2 of oXygen adds a set of important features and I will try to
shortly describe the ones that can be more related with TEI support.
One of the important features in oXygen 8.2 is the support for working
with modules and performing multiple validations in a single action -
all these realized with a new concept of validation scenarios. These are
similar with the existing transformation scenarios. They allow
specifying a set of tuples
(file, processor, perform continuous validation flag)
and the meaning is that instead of validating the current file oXygen
will validate the specified files with the specified processors.
For instance if you have a TEI file and you split that into multiple
modules and use external entities to include them in the master file,
then when you work on the modules you can configure a scenario that
validates the master file and you get the validation of the TEI module
in the context it is used from the master file.
Other possible use cases are:
- validation of a module in multiple contexts it is used from (in a
- validation against multiple processors to make sure you have a file
that works no matter what processor is used (again in a single action)
- validation of an schema when editing a schema file and also of some
instance documents against that schema - to make sure the changes you
make in the schema keep your documents valid
*ISO Schematron support*
oXygen adds full support for ISO Schematron. If you want to have some
constrains on your files that cannot be unenforced with Relax NG, XML
Schemas or DTDs then you can use Schematron and ISO Schematron is the
latest and most powerful version of Schematron.
*Large files viewer*
oXygen added a large files viewer capable of opening files of more than
The search and replace strings can contain new lines. This, together
with the support for regular expressions and XPath filters make oXygen a
powerful tool for performing changes over XML files.
*XQuery debugger against a native XML database*
Allows users of the MarkLogic 3.2 database to debug their XQuery code
based on the new MarkLogic Server 3.2 XQuery debugging API.
Note also in the updated components the following issue with TEI to PDF
Updated the Apache FOP transformer to version 0.93
The XSL-FO transformer from Apache was updated to the latest version:
0.93. Note for the TEI users: Because the TEI FO stylesheets are not
compatible with the latest FOP, it is recommended to download and
configure the FOP version 0.20.5 as an external FO processor and then
change the transformation scenarios to use it.
As we already informed Sebastian Rahtz about this probably a fix on the
TEI side will be available soon, otherwise you should use the workaround
