I just did, for the first time, using a different procedure from yours.
I don't have Fink installed on my machine, rather I use DarwinPorts
(http://darwinports.com/) for extra packages. I got TEI Roma to work
properly from Sourceforge source with the DarwinPorts versions of
libxml2 and libxslt installed. The only hack necessary was, since
DarwinPorts doesn't have a package for Trang, creating a trang
executable in my $PATH that runs trang.jar installed separately.
(In my case, just pointing to where oXygen keeps it.)
I can provide more details offline in the highly unlikely case (with a
nod to Sebastian) that anyone else out there needs to accomplish the
