That is a good question! It depends on how you use it. If you press &
release the pedal to obtain an image and do this say 3-4 times during
fracture manipulation it would be far less than say depressing the pedal
constantly for an extended duration each time. The latter could be
equivalent radiation to a CT of the abdomen! Based on our current
usage, we have not yet been advised to wear Geiger counters.
Incidentally, all providers in the room are expected to wear a lead
shield. With a closed door, there is minimal risk of exposure to the
rest of the dept.
