At the time I came through this morning, the bike path was closed
farther South than Metropolitan Park. I took a right on Bay Spring,
left on Washington, left on Promenade, right on Burke/Planet ave, left
on Pokanoket, right on Wanniesett, and finally left on Crescent View.
Okay, you are going to have to take a look at a map to follow all of the
above, but it works out well and keeps you (mostly) off the busier roads.

I'm always up for a bike pool on the ride home. My arrival time is a
bit to random to try and hook up with people, but heading out is pretty
much always on time. I should be able to flex my schedule around some,
so if anyone is heading South on the trail and interested in company,
let me know.
