For the benefit of others who may get into the same situation,
Marc had three problems, one his fault, one mine, and one joint:
1. reference to undefined macros, which cause conversion to RELAX NG
compact to fail
2. although Marc successfully deleted some global attributes, the
display in Roma
did not reflect it, though the generated schema was correct
3. Marc deleted <item> and <label>, leaving <list> with an impossibly
limited ranged of children;
this is semantically an error (it's the sort of thing the sanity
checker catches), but
it also produced an invalid schema, which should not happen.
I am working to fix 3., but 2. will take a little longer.
