Indeed, it happened exactly as you said. There were pedestrians all along
the sidewalk, along with recycling bins and trash cans. The pedestrians
obviously had no expectation of cyclists using the sidewalk, and were
wandering around and chatting, oblivious to my need to get to the bridge.
I had assumed that we would be able to ride on the south sidewalk to go
East, which would have been an annoyance. But having to ride through city
sidewalks to get to the north bridge sidewalk is crazy.
