Yes, but there are completely different authorities metricality of names
There are (at least) two pronunciations of my surname, and selection
between them can only be done by reference to the individual named,
rather than by reference to a linguistic context.
Even within New Zealand there are regional variations on people's first
guess as to the correct pronunciation.
