FYI, the construction crew on the Henderson Bridge project has
apparently closed the lefthand travel lane *westbound* (towards
Providence) with concrete barriers, which implies it will be some time
before it's open again. So now, over the main span of the bridge, there
is only one travel lane, although the shoulder is still open too, so
it's not as narrow as the eastbound side with its 11-foot lane and no
shoulder (which remains closed to bikes).
There has not been any new prohibition on bike travel in the roadway on
the westbound side of the bridge that I am aware of, but this does
certainly reduce the space available to motorists as they pass cyclists.
I've sent a note to RIDOT to ask for more details, I'll let you know if
I get anything back.
