My top 5:
1.a pt. telling us that her doctor was at the Chicago College of Oscar
(Instead of the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine)
2. the asthmatic who was on "al-bought-it all'
3. The lady who felt perfectly fine, but her upper back had a cold
(with cough and congestion!)
4. the gunshot victim who was instructing the resident on where to
place the needle for the DPL as this was his 3 rd one
and NUMBER 5!!!!!!..............the parents who came running into the
ER with there 3 month old in hysterics noting there was a spot on her
baby's head....I walked in...agreed tha tthere was a spot on there
baby's head, I took a 2 by 2 and with great precision and accuracy,
andwith a steady hand, I wiped off the spot, which was a green ink dot
that the 3 year old finally admitted to doing....the 3 year old
originally denied it, and the parents were convinced than it must be a
We gotta write a book....
Oh...wait.......even better.....I was working in a Peds ER, Level 1
Peds and level 1 Peds Trauma...average wait time for peds was 4+
hours....a pt. was called and they did not respond...they must have
left....well...another pt. saw an opportunity and put down a chief
complaint on the sign in, "taking the place of Smith who just left",
hoping this would bump them up in line.....
have you ever :)
