You may have already heard about the new TEI module the MS SIG was
preparing. Such a module is mostly centred on encoding of documents
(as opposed to texts, yes you have read well, DOCUMENTS!!) and genetic
Many of you have heard about it at Ann Arbor (see the abstracts here http://www.tei-c.org/Vault/MembersMeetings/2009/program-abstracts.html)
, some others have been stalked by me or Malte, some others have never
heard of such a thing before.
I'm now very, very pleased to report that the TEI Council has approved
our proposal in principle, meaning that the content of the new module
has been accepted and just need a bit of refinement.
We are now entering the official testing phase with the hope to
incorporate all the new elements within the TEI in the next few
months, taking advantage of your testing and comments.
The official home page for the new module is:
from which you can access documentation and schema. The module is
preserved in the form of an ODD file within sourceforge at http://tei.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/tei/trunk/genetic/
(it is a bit messy, I know, look for the geneticTEI.xml file).
Please use the module, stretch it, and break it, then report your
feedback within the MS-SIG mailing list.
It is not too late to let us know what do you think of the module!
Once it will be part of TEI changes will still possible but will be
more complicated, so you are strongly encouraged to have a look at it
sooner rather than later.
All the best wishes
Elena and Malte
