Responding to Elena's message from the 23rd, I would say all four of your
suggestions are reasonable and I'll take them up with the Board; some would
required changes to the bylaws, which could be accomplished at the members'
Responding to the earlier suggestion that all Board correspondence be
published, I would argue against that, for the simple reason that until now,
the assumption has been that the Board list is a closed list, and that
therefore email on that list will be read by other board members only. I
don't have any objection to proposing to the Board that its communications
on the Board list should be public, but I don't like the idea of changing
privacy rules retrospectively.
More as I work my way through various threads--sorry to be slow, but this is
the first week of classes at Illinois, and there's a lot going on.
