When you say that you'll treat what needs treating, could you give examples
of such treatments? The follow-up question would be: are there any notable
risks associated with them? Might it beneficial to prevent the need for
such treatment in the first place.
If someone is altered from alcohol and other depressants...and the patient
seems to be on their way down rather than their way up (sobering up), it
might make sense to counteract the other toxins rather than respond to them
after they become a problem. While a tox screen might not be required, it
could be useful....both for physical treatment, as well as psychiatric /
social worker referral.
