What is the availability of Upper GI series with SBFT at night at your hospital?
At my hospital, the radiologists are reading images from an associated regional hospital at night. Thus, when we need an air enema or upper GI series, we need to call them in. Getting the air/contrast enema for intussusception has not been much of a problem at night since we all recognize that time is of the essence in this therapeutic/diagnostic procedure. However, recently our radiologists did not want to come in for an upper GI series on a toddler with bilious vomiting and a small bowel obstructive picture on the abdominal series. They stated that this diagnostic procedure could wait until the AM or the patient could get a CT.
I am wondering about the general availability for this test in other facilities at night.
