The ED staff will respond to any emergency or request by the team but do not primarily mange the patient or write notes per shift.

It appears that the Joint Commission considers "boarding" as greater than four hours from the decision to admit and recommends implementing care like that of an inpatient. Does anyone have any recommendations on how best to accomplish this? For example, do you have the inpatient team round and write orders on the ED patient while waiting for a bed assignment? Or do you have the ED team continue care?
