true. I suspect we need to have it wrapped in <span class=“gloss”>.
if anyone feels strong and wants to look at that, it would be great.
its not quite as easy as it looks, as the function “makeGloss”
has to work across all output formats.

it means that one output HTML file is created for each top-level <div> in the input
I think you’re hitting an untested area here, there isn’t a magic recipe
