St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children and the Department of Pediatrics at Drexel University College of Medicine are seeking applicants for the position of Chief of Emergency Medicine. This position will join an established department providing comprehensive care to more than 74,000 children and adolescents each year. The position requires a candidate to be board-certified in Pediatric Emergency Medicine with significant clinical experience, including medical leadership experience. Academic appointment will be at Drexel University College of Medicine.
The successful candidate will have a reputation as an outstanding clinician, will possess strong leadership skills, and superb communication skills. The candidate should be committed to the department’s academic mission and have a strong skill set in mentorship of junior faculty. Responsibilities will include participation in clinical training for the competitive ACGME-accredited residency and fellowship programs, interaction with hospital and departmental leadership to continually enhance quality of care and patient safety, and successfully collaborating with the transport team and trauma program leadership to grow both programs. Additional responsibilities will include the oversight of a network of urgent care centers, partner hospital pediatric emergency departments and a new telemedicine initiative.
St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children is a 189-bed quaternary care children’s hospital in Philadelphia which include a growing network of primary and urgent care locations throughout the Philadelphia suburbs and New Jersey. St. Chris is one of only three Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Centers in Pennsylvania, and it employs more than 220 pediatric faculty representing the full spectrum of pediatric specialties. The hospital is undergoing an exciting $110 million expansion including a new critical care tower and development of a Center for the Urban Child.
