I think a big part of the question is: can one (and I'm deliberately
using an indefinite pronoun) sacrifice this or that particular part of
their teaching habit if the prize is going to be a tool that will
work... you know, 90 % of the time, for 90 % of "kinds of students".
The keywords are "compromise" and "reductionism", and the key phrase is
"relative comfort" rather than "my own comfort".
