We are currently looking at our treatment and monitoring protocols of children with intussusception, more specifically children leaving the ED to get air enema reduction in radiology. Few questions for the group:
1. In your institution, who accompanies the patient to the radiology suite? An ED nurse, physician or both?2. How do you manage analgesia in these patients? Opioids/ no opioids? If providing opioids, does a physician have to present with the patient in radiology?3. Do you give procedural sedation during the air enema reduction? If so, what agent(s) do you use most commonly?
